Scholarship Opportunities

2019 HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

St. John the Evangelist Youth Ministry seeks to foster in each student a personal and living relationship with Christ and His Church. In pursuit of this goal, St. John strives to integrate students grades 6-12 into the life of the St. John Parish, the Lawrence community, and the greater global community. This is accomplished through a three-pronged programming model focusing on spiritual growth, social awareness, and service opportunities.

The following scholarships allow St. John the Evangelist Parish to foster student involvement in the following areas:

Outstanding Senior Award: $500

The Outstanding Senior Award will be presented to the senior that shows well-rounded personal growth in all three areas of development: spiritual, service, and social. The student earning this award is an active participant in Parish events and youth activities, is a leader in ministries at St. John, and holds true to the tenants of the Catholic faith, sharing his/her faith with peers and adults alike.

Spiritual Development Award: $250

The Spiritual Development Award will be given to the student that has shown active participation in the spiritual ministries of St. John, whether through praise ‘n’ worship, retreat/conference experiences, adoration, and Mass participation.

Social Justice Award: $250

The Social Justice Award will be presented to the student who has shown an ongoing commitment to social justice and serving others throughout his/her high school career at St. John Parish, in the Lawrence community, and in the world.

Community Award: $250

The Community Award will be distributed to the senior who has shown a commitment to inviting others into a relationship with Jesus and who has shown dedication to the St. John Youth community through ongoing participation and evangelism.

Senior Award: $50

Multiple senior awards will be given out to recognize students’ commitment to faith and formation in any of the three areas throughout their high school career.

Students may apply for more than one award. All awards are funded through a special second collection taken from the Parish community on TBA. Application forms are due on TBA for blind consideration by Father Jeff, Parish Council, Religious Education Coordinators, and Youth Core Team.
