3 Great Opportunities

Prayer and Action: Osage City

July 9–14, 2017

Prayer & Action sessions last five days, with students arriving on Sunday evening and staying until Friday morning. Throughout the week the students will paint, clean, do yard work, and perform other meaningful tasks for the poor, disabled, and elderly.

The students will spend the week in an atmosphere that is free of distractions which will foster their faith, inspire charity, and lead them closer to Christ. The experience will also allow them to get to know other high school students from other parts of the Archdiocese who share their Catholic faith.

Prayer & Action Application

Steubenville South: Louisiana

June 23–27

“Behold, I make all things new.” Revelation 21:5

From His throne in heaven to the depths of your heart, these words of Jesus are an invitation for you to receive the new life that He alone can give. He is longing to elevate your life above the things of this world – to help you overcome fear, anxiety, confusion and doubt. He can make you new! Come experience the joy of following Christ and being elevated by His love.

We will leave early Friday for the conference in Alexandria, LA (June 23-25), and follow that with a post-conference retreat as we make our way back (June 25-27). This will be a chance to unpack our conference experience and think about how to take all we have experienced and apply it to our day-to-day lives!

The deadline for applications is Sunday, April 2. We have a limited number of spots available, and we will fill these by the order in which applications are received, so get them in ASAP!

Cost: $400 (covers registration, transportation, retreat lodging and some meals)

Steubenville South Application

Franciscan Lead: Lousiana

June 19–23, 2017

Franciscan LEAD is a five-day, Christ-centered, sacrament-soaked, prayer fueled immersion in Catholic teachings on leadership, evangelization, and discipleship inspired by the life and witness of St. Francis of Assisi.

Our leadership philosophy is based on the foundation that youth leadership flows from a personal relationship with Christ. Therefore, we first give teens the tools to grow closer in their relationship with Jesus and then give them the essentials for servant leadership and evangelization.

St. John likes to send 2–4 youth to LEAD each year, if possible. These students will be expected to take a leadership role in the youth group, using the tools they learn during this week. Students will then meet the rest of the group for the Steubenville South conference on Friday.

Cost: TBD (covers registration, food, lodging and transportation)

STUDENTS, talk to your small group leader by Sunday, February 26, if you are interested in LEAD. The application process begins soon!
