Database Manager

JOB SUMMARY:  

Part-time database manager needed at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in downtown Lawrence, KS. Responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of a confidential and time-sensitive nature in the parish database program (ParishStaq).      Data Entry Responsibilities:

  • Weekly donations:
    -prepare all donations by verifying accuracy and sorting data for entry.
    -and enter all donations into parish database.
    -create reports for accounting purposes.
  • Posts all other parish donations.
  • Export/import online giving donations.
  • Reconciles all donations on a monthly basis:
    -Review data for deficiencies or errors and check output.

     Database Responsibilities:

  • Maintain parish database:
    -entering new and updated parishioner profiles.
    -oversight of parishioners and other sub-groups.
    -identify duplicates and inconsistencies.
  • Oversee the entering of pledges and compose pledge updates, for the purpose of communicating information and/or creating documentation.
  • Assist parishioners with individual records, pledges, and online giving accounts which may include researching donations.
  • Ensure Online Giving programs are updated to include envelope numbers.

     Other Responsibilities:

  • Create parishioner end-of-year statements.
  • Create lists for parish mailings.
  • Manage the parish envelope process.
  • Maintain parish ministry directory

SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS:

  • Proven data entry work experience as a Data Entry Operator or Office Clerk, or similar experience.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of fundamental database concepts.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to organize and analyze data with accuracy.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Time management skills, with the ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines and stay focused on assigned tasks.
  • Confidentiality.
  • Experience with data programs.
  • Bilingual a plus
  • Professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills; and can represent the parish favorably in all interactions with parishioners.
  • Active member of the Roman Catholic parish faith community or possesses the knowledge of and is willing to function in a manner consistent with the mission of the Catholic Church.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred. Must be able to work with minimal supervision and exercise excellent judgment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, talk, hear, sit, bend, grasp, and perform repetitive motions of the hands/wrists.  This job also requires the employee to view a computer monitor for prolonged periods of time.  Occasional lifting of 20 pounds or less.  

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed mostly in a standard office setting. Office is located in a two story building with no elevator.  Work is generally performed during a combination of weekend, evening and normal business hours.  Night and weekend hours are regularly required in order to fulfill job responsibilities.

Director of Development & Stewardship

JOB SUMMARY:  

The Director of Development & Stewardship works closely with the Pastor and Principal to ensure the long-term stability of the Parish, which includes the Church and School, by building relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including parishioners, parents, alumni, volunteers and community members. The Director of Development & Stewardship will implement and oversee all development and stewardship activities necessary to grow and expand the base of financial support for the Parish from a broad range of sources.  To apply, send cover letter and resume to Fr. The Director of Development & Stewardship shall:

    • Serve as a member of the parish staff.
    • Develop and implement both annual and long-range goals, objectives and strategies to maximize private support for the Church and School.
    • Prepare and execute an annual development plan that includes annual appeals, planned giving appeals and stewardship. 
    • Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward annual and major gift prospects (individuals, corporations and foundations). Includes grant writing.
    •  Develop and implement an ongoing program of communication with current and prospective donors that recognizes past and current commitments and fosters support for future efforts.
    • Work with Church and School groups to help coordinate and plan events that support development and stewardship activities.
    • Recruit, engage and coordinate volunteers to support all development and stewardship activities related to the Church and School.
    • Coordinate marketing efforts to actively promote and increase enrollment at the School.
    • Create, implement and grow an alumni engagement program to ultimately increase alumni giving to the Parish.
  • Other duties which may from time to time be reasonably assigned. 

JOB SCOPE:  

In collaboration with the Pastor and Principal, the Director of Development and Stewardship oversees all development and stewardship efforts for the Parish. This position reports to the Pastor.

SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS:

Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) preferred.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree required. Established professional with three to five years of fundraising preferred. Candidates with experience in business development or sales will also be considered.  Must possess the ability to independently initiate, organize, and follow through with fundraising strategies. Must be able to work with minimal supervision and exercise excellent judgment.
