Religious Ed Holiday Schedule
Traditional Religious Education classes, Confirmation classes and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd sessions will resume the week of January 7, 2018.
The Sunday and Monday Catechesis of the Good Shepherd sessions are closed, January 14 – 15, 2018, for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend.
Altar Servers Needed
Additional altar servers are needed for the 4:30 pm Saturday Mass, 7:00 am and 5:00 pm Sunday Masses. This is an important ministry and a wonderful opportunity for the youth of our parish to participate in the celebration of the Eucharist. If your son/daughter has been trained and willing to be scheduled for one of these Mass times, please contact Amanda Sellet, altar server scheduler, at firstname.lastname@example.org

If you haven’t yet “blessed” your new calendars, 2018 schedules and clocks you still have time to add some very important dates and times. Here are just a few suggestions:
Monday, March 5, 6:45 pm in Bosco Room in St. John School This is a St. John Justice Matters network meeting for all team leaders and network members. Our pastor, Fr.
Jeff Ernst, and Bill Scholl from the Archdiocesan offices will be with us to share how we fit into the scriptural call to do justice from Micah 6:8; from Jesus’ imperative of doing justice in Matthew 23:23; from Catholic teachings on social justice, Pope Francis’ support of popular movements and from our parish mission statement. Interested parishioners who are not members of Justice Matters are welcome to participate.

Giving: Our Hope Foundation
St. John is launching a program of planned giving called “Our Hope Foundation” to provide an opportunity for St. John parishioners to support the long-term ministry and mission of our church. This program includes a number of ways for our parishioners to benefit their church in the distribution of their assets regardless of age or stage toward retirement. Many people who are approaching retirement may benefit from a strategy that provides a lifetime retirement income, tax deduction, and a gift to the church and/or school. Men Of St. John
The Men of St. John are presenting The Bible and the Sacraments, based on the work of world-renowned theologian Dr. Scott Hahn. Presented by popular
speaker and author Matthew Leonard, the deep mysteries and truths of the sacraments come alive in a whole new way. This
eleven week program will start Wednesday, January 10, Breakfast at 6:00 am, a short video at 6:30 am with discussion. Please join us for faith, fellowship, and breakfast. This is a men’s ministry.
Women’s Prayer Group
The Women’s Prayer and Reflection Group will meet on January 9 and January 23. We will meet in the St. John School library at 6:30 pm. John us anytime for fellowship and to be inspired by women saints, historical figures, and women from the bible.

Want to dig deep into your Catholic Faith? Want to have challenging theological and philosophical conversation about what it means to be a Catholic? This is the place for you! St. John on Tap will be return in 2018. All events are from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the Bosco Room in the school. Dates are January 12, February 9, March 16, April 20, May 18 and June 8.
Winter class with father barnabas
Father Barnabas will begin teaching his next class in early 2018 to help Catholics better understand the role of angels in our faith. If you would like to learn more, join Father beginning January 2 at 7:00-8:15 pm in the Church basement.
We will use the Book Angels of God: The Bible, The Church and the Heavenly Hosts by Mike Aquilina. Class dates are 2, 9, 23 of January 6 and 27 of February and March 6 and 13. All classes are 7:00-8:15 pm in the Church Basement.
Living in Love retreat
Living in Love is an exciting day and a half parish based retreat workshop designed to energize the romance and renew the joy of being in love through a practical application of John Paul II’s Theology of the Body. The retreat is January 20-21, 2018. Click here to register
Knights of Columbus
The Knights of Columbus meet the 2nd Thursday of each month in the basement of St. John. Social and dinner provided by the Knights begins at 6:30pm. The meeting begins at 7pm.
